Pressure of tests (and coursework)

My name is Anas latif sheikh. I have been studying in the university of Essex for about 2 months now and so far I have been doing well but as I get closer to the end of the term there is a lot of coursework piling up and I also have a lot of tests going on so because of all this I have been under a lot of pressure lately. In order to meet the deadlines and study for the tests I have not been able to have much free time to do anything also the format of the  tests I have are quite different than I am used to so I have to work harder .After having almost 2 months of easy schedule  so much work is hard to cope up with but I have somehow managed to do it by managing my time well and putting in a little more effort than usual also the fact that we have a month of vacations soon keeps me motivated to do my best as I will soon have a lot of time to relax.

Pressure of tests and coursework - Uzo

This term has been less stressful in terms of tests and course works compared to other school terms I have experienced in the past. There has been enough time to prepare for the tests and I was able to follow up on schoolwork instead of piling things up till the last minute, which never pans out well most of the time. Generally, there was little pressure and anxiety of tests on me and I have been able to manage the workload properly. Though laziness sets in sometimes and I get nothing on my to-do list for a particular week done, I then have to put in extra effort the following week to cover up for lost time.
I find it hard to write essays, hence there is a lot of pressure on me in starting the only course work I have been given this term. There has been more than enough time to do research and start typing up but the fact that I do not enjoy writing essays has made it easy for me to procrastinate.
This term has been fairly easy, I see it as an orientation into the system, but as time goes on, next term, I sense the workload would become heavy. I will have about 3 course works or there about to submit so there will be little or no time to faff about and lounge. Also, the tests I would be having are going to cover everything learnt from week 1 and that requires a lot of studying. The thought of this really frightens me.

The only key to making life a lot easier for myself is to stick to this method of following up on everything I am taught by making notes on all my respective topics so when tests come along, revision becomes easy and avoid panicking.  Also making a study timetable will help me to organise myself each day. It is difficult to keep to it, as it is easier said than done, but worth it in the end.

IFP GROUP 6 BLOG 2

THE PRESSURE OF TESTS & COURSEWORK

The subject of our second blog is the Pressure of Tests & Coursework. Please take time to think about the pressure or stress that you have (or haven't) been under thus far this term. Has the workload been too heavy or has it been manageable? What can you do to lighten the load and make life easier for yourself? What concerns do you have about your workload and what expectations of future workload?

Please plan your thoughts in Word first so you can check you spelling, grammar, and punctuation before posting. Although a blog can be less formal than a normal piece of writing, try to use language thoughtfully watch for overly simplistic language and repetition and refrain from using slang etc. Spend some time on this as you will be using as a input source for a 'reflection' later and the quality of your blog entries will constitute part of that overall mark.

Please feel free to make (respectful and thoughtful) comments on others’ posts but please refrain from insulting or offensive language - I will have to remove it and it may constitute an academic offence. Please note these posts can only be read by myself and the other students in your academic skills class, unless someone has the specific URL.

This blog was supposed to be completed by the end of Week 10 but as I am a little late in getting it to you you can take up to the end of week 11 - so the new deadline is lunchtime Friday 13t
